Travelled much of western Europe, driving through six countries in one day once; Italy, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and Germany. Also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in Haiti in 1990, escaping through Dominican Republic when his plane was hijacked by an insubordinate soldier.
