Sam Bottoms

Sam Bottoms was born on October 17, 1955 in Santa Barbara, California, USA as Samuel John Bottoms. He was an actor and producer, known for Apocalypse Now (1979), The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976) and Seabiscuit (2003). He was married to Laura Bickford and Susan Arnold. He died on December 16, 2008 in Los Angeles, California.

Brother of Ben Bottoms, Joseph Bottoms and Timothy Bottoms.

During the making of The Last Picture Show (1971), he often tagged along to watch filming with his elder brother Timothy Bottoms and one day the director Peter Bogdanovich decided to test screen Sam and eventually cast him as Billy.

Began acting at the Santa Barbara (California) Youth Theatre at age 10.

Had two daughters from his first wife Susan Arnold, Io and Clara.

Father is sculptor James "Bud"" Bottoms.

His daughter Io Bottoms is also an actor.
