Stage actress. She had her first audition at 14 and made some theatrical studies in high school under the mentorship of Emmanuel Demarcy Motta. She later attended Bruno Wacrenier's classes at the 5th arrondissement Conservatoire, made some studies with Cécile Grandin at the Bourg la Reine-Sceaux Conservatoire and finally entered the CNSAD (National Conservatory of Dramatic Art of Paris), where she graduated in 2007. She's been with the Comédie-Française between 2007 and 2009.
After completing her studies at the Paris Conservatoire of Dramatic Arts, she was invited by Muriel Mayette, artistic director of the Comédie-Française, to make her theatrical debut as Célimène in Lukas Hemleb's 2007/8 stage production of "The Misanthrope"". She signed her contract with the Comédie-Française on the day of her 22nd birthday. Mayette stated that Chemla possessed an ""unbreakable fragility"".
Has been engaged to James Thierrée: they have a son.
She was raised in Gentilly. Her mother is a lawyer of Burgundy ancestry. Her father is a fiddler of Tunisian ancestry.
