Joti Patel

Joti is a British-Indian actress with multi-cultural roots, raised in Birmingham before moving to London to launch a career in media and eventually becoming transatlantic.Joti graduated with BSc (Hons) in Psychology and an MSc in Health Psychology, enjoying a career in healthcare before accepting a place at Identity Drama School where previous alumni include John Boyega (Star Wars), Melanie Lyburd (This Is Us) and Letitia Wright (Black Panther). Joti then signed with a London agency and landed her 1st theatre job in Romeo & Juliet before embarking on TV and film roles.Joti featured in BBC One’s record-breaking drama ‘Bodyguard’ starring Golden Globe winner, Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) and Keeley Hawes (Line of Duty) also produced by the BAFTA award-winning team from ‘Line of Duty’. This contemporary thriller is set in and around the corridors of power, telling the gripping story of David Budd (Madden). The viewing figures of 17.1 million is the largest audience recorded for a non-sporting event and is the UK’s most watched drama since records began, receiving several international awards including a Golden Globe for Richard Madden.Joti joined the cast of BBC EastEnders, the network’s longest running TV show as feisty sassy fashion entrepreneur ‘Tessa’. EastEnders has received numerous awards from the British Academy of Film & Television, (BAFTA) as well as National TV Awards, British Soap Awards etc.In 2020, Joti then featured on another long running British soap ITV’s Emmerdale Farm, as part of a gripping kidnapping storyline Shortly afterwards, Joti was invited by the show’s Director to accept a recurring role on Britain’s longest running TV show, Coronation Street as part of a critical and highly emotive storyline. All 3 soaps have won BAFTA’s Award for Best Soap & Continuing Drama amongst others from Royal Television Society, National TV Awards, National Soap Awards and others over the years.Joti is an avid supporter of mental health charities and has devoted time to fund raising for various charities fuelled by her passion to explore better care solutions for society’s vulnerable and is no stranger to serving homeless folk. Joti has ran 13k for the Alzheimer’s Society and 10k for The British Heart Foundation. Joti has also volunteered at children’s charity Barnardos, travelled to Bosnia on a youth mission aimed at restoring childhood for post-war orphans, worked as a volunteer Counsellor at ChildLine dedicating time to supporting young vulnerable adults enduring challenges to their mental health and/or at risk of self-harm, abuse or potential suicide.
