Konkona Sen Sharma is an awarding winning actress and the daughter of the celebrated actress and director Aparna Sen. Konkona is regarded as one of the most respected actresses in Bollywood with her memorable performances right from Mr. and Mrs. Iyer (2002) to Page 3 (2005), from Omkara (2006) to Life in a Metro (2007). Her singularly exquisite portrayal of a struggling actress in the undisputed hit Luck by Chance (2009) opposite Farhan Akhtar has also established her commercial success. Praising her performance in the film, noted film Critic Nikhat Kazmi of Times of India wrote, “The highpoint of the film are its performances, Konkona is a complete natural before the camera””.”

She is the daughter of actress-writer-director Aparna Sen.

She became a known face when she starred in the film Mr. and Mrs. Iyer (2002), directed by her mother. The film was a multiplex success and was a favorite with the critics. Konkona's performance got her the National Film Award for Best Actress. This was followed by a critically acclaimed hit, Page 3 (2005). Her role drew a lot of praise and she became a more familiar face to the movie going public. She followed it up with even more acclaimed performances in15 Park Avenue (2005)_ and _ _Omkara (2006)_.

Made her debut as a child artist in the film Indira (1983).

Konkona's graduate degree was in English, from St. Stephen's College, Delhi in 2001. She was a student of the Modern High School for Girls, Calcutta, as well as the Calcutta International School.

Konkona's maternal grandfather, Late Chidananda Das Gupta, who was a film critic, scholar, professor, writer and one of the co-founders of the Calcutta Film Society with Late Satyajit Ray and Late Harisadhan Dasgupta. Her grandmother Supriya Dasgupta is a cousin of legendary modern Bengali poet Late Jibanananda Das.

Konkona's birth father, Mukul Sharma, is a science writer and journalist.

Son, Haroon Shorey, was born on March 15th, 2011 in a South Mumbai hospital.

Father Mukul Sharma is also an actor.
